He was the first man to play 200 League games in both England and Scotland, and to score 100 goals in each country. He played for Celtic 1967-77, who won four Scottish League Championships, four Scottish Cups and one Scottish League Cup. He moved to Liverpool and won 12 major medals in the next eight years; five League Championships, four League Cups, and three European Cups. He made a record 102 international appearances for Scotland and equalled Denis Law's record of 30 goals. He was Footballer of the Year 1979 and 1983, and Players' Player of the Year 1983. He was player-manager of Liverpool when they won the Cup and League double 1985-86; as manager he added two more League titles 1987-88 1989-90 and another FA Cup win 1989. He became manager of Blackburn Rovers 1991, taking them into the Premier League and on to the Championship 1994-95. He is one of only three managers to win the English Championship with two clubs.
